So you have a great website and the best product on the planet yet those irksome consumers are not ordering! What is their problem?!
When you get visitors to your website, they can’t focus long enough to click buy or fill out an order form! Or Google is not putting your website on the first page of search results!
Here are some of the possible reasons, from our Front End Developers and Web Developers, as to why orders and good Google search results aren’t happening:
Why?
What it ultimately boils down to is that humans have visceral needs before they can conduct complex thought.
Websites must visually attract, show value immediately & must not challenge – then we will click, literally.
When we are feeling attracted to an obvious value, within 10 seconds, and have found our way into somewhere (physical or digitally), within 3 seconds, only THEN are we ready to engage.
Check if your website has any of these visitor-losing factors:
Page Speed is the ultimate factor. Nothing else matters if your page loads slower than 3 seconds, by which time you have lost 40% of visitors and an additional 7% for every second after that. Get this fixed urgently.
Technology And Content are not only rated by visitors but by Google as well. You HAVE TO update consumable content twice a month (e.g. blogs, news). Consider rebuilding your website every four years.
Slow loading images have the same impact as slow pages. You don’t have images?! That’s a crisis needing attention. Visual content can drive up your revenue by up to 83%.
Unattractiveness does affect conversions by up to 40%. Lots of blah blah, poor colour choices, aggressive shapes, unprofessional pictures? That’s as effective as a fax machine.
Website design has psychology, algorithms, complex technology and experience embedded in its structure.
Readability that flows whilst including keyword phrases and meta-descriptions is not everyone’s skill. Using an app may help, but it won’t create the same quality of compelling content that an experienced writer will.
Navigation is vital. So your visitor is hooked in the 10-second window, and now they are prepared to move forward. If your website is too busy, too quirky to be clear or needs “insider knowledge” to navigate, then you have lost your visitor. Does it have a bold “Buy” or “Call” button?
Simplicity increases quality orders.
Mobile Compatibility is essential if you want to be available to 51% of the market. Not all web developers know how to do this so research your contractor first.
